Germany's only other appearance in the World Cup was when it hosted in 1998. That year the team was eliminated in the group phase. The squad features four WNBA players, though unfortunately not superstar Satou Sabally who is recovering from a concussion. Olaf Lange coaches them now: he is married to Sandy Brondello, who coaches Australia.
